If you are set on a December trip from Lahore, your journey will look very different:
Balakot & Kewai: Open and accessible. You can enjoy the scenery and local trout.
Shogran: Usually accessible via hired 4x4 jeeps from Kewai, offering beautiful pine forest snowscapes.
Naran: Often inaccessible or extremely limited by December due to snow blocking the road.
Babusar Top: Inaccessible.
To actually reach the summit, you will need to plan this 3-day trip for next summer when the pass reopens.
Drive: ~450 km (10-12 hours).
Route: M-2 to Islamabad, Hazara Motorway to Mansehra, then N-15 through Balakot.
Stopovers: Kewai Waterfall and Kaghan town.
Night Stay: Naran (fill up your fuel tank here, as there are no pumps further up).
Morning (7:00 AM): Depart Naran early. The drive is 66–70 km and takes about 2.5–3 hours each way.
En Route: Stop at Lulusar Lake and the vast Gittidas meadows.
The Summit: Reach Babusar Top by mid-morning. The temperature will be 0–12°C even in summer, and there is no mobile signal. On a clear day, you can see Nanga Parbat on the northern horizon.
Afternoon: Descend and have a picnic lunch at Jalkhad before returning to Naran for the night.
Morning: Take a morning jeep ride to Lake Saif ul Malook before the crowds arrive.
Return: Begin the drive back to Lahore, aiming to arrive by evening.
